Untamed Heart

-(o hey look it's a song in an "odd time signature", this is in "21" (i feel this as 7+8+6, usually not further broken down than that with any sort of specification, especially as the groupings of 3vs2 within them change, particularly 3+3 vs 2+2+2 in the 6 bit). actually i always feel like 21 is an underutilized container when it comes to odd time stuff. because the mixture of potential to feel it as 7 groups of 3 vs 3 groups of 7 has such high potential. this doesn't actually do that but it has the FEEL of as if it would do that that i think naturally forms itself with anything like this that touches 7-ness in a 21 container at all. I should like this way more because it's prog metal edgy song and that is a thing i act like i like a lot, but i wish it had more to it. still, this is actually boosted because of recent inclinations, when i'm in a mood to focus on guitars, this is the sort of thing that i want, and me wanting guitars seems to be more often than usual lately)-

-[this song does EVERYTTHING i want a song to do at the same time just like watson usually does; big jazz piano man on top of edm-esque elements. super monkey ball chords (oh no i have to have acquired "complex feelings about super monkey ball" now) anyways i absolutely love this type of music. the almost sloppy feeling layering of these two contrasting styles, especially with how squishy and organic these synths are, is a really interesting atmosphere; something even other watson music doesn't quite hit. this, of all things, actually specifically reminds me of NORIO HANZAWA but that is mainly for the desynchronization, but he does have some uncharacteristically jazzy+edm elements stuff that is maybe the closest i can think of to something hitting this exact feeling]-

-{this match is like, actually hard, and i will consider changing my vote later. mean this more intensely than usual. tartarus does one thing i like, Really Well. and dear dragon does 10 things i like, slightly less well}-

-(uh oh watch out!!! it's the girl singing programing language song!!! The rhythmic REON-4213 chanting bits are my favorite parts here, the repeating rhythms all stabbing me with the same chord every syllable, only changing the chord after there have been a lot of syllables. well i just think it's a cool feeling vocal style, very. I've noticed during noms and bracket making that i find this actually one of the least "memorable" ar tonelico series vocal themes. but when i actually listen to the song, i think the song i'm JAMMING TO THE BIG ANCIENT TREES and am confused how my memory of the song gets erased immediately after because i am so into the song while it's playing. I better keep typing a lot of words as i am listening!!! time's running out! Oh no the song is going to end and i'm going to immediately forget what i sounds like but I can tell you i am enjoying what i am hearing RIGHT NOW ok song is done bye : ( sad. . . .i wanted to listen to it more, and i don't remember what it sounds like anymore *presses replay*)-

-[i love this style in general, this is an example of a song where i notice i actually find specific odd samples or /timbres/ to be "catchy", which is STRANGE EXPERIENCE, like that chord that pops in at :01/:06 is the most memorable bit of this track to me. the pan flutey thing does a lot for me too. all the echoy stuff is a fun treat. and i always like the mix of big jazz chords into electronic music. definitely a category of song i typically like. one of the strengths is how natural it is for interesting sample-based stuff to occur in it, which this is pretty full of]-

-{i am so sorry to the jungle and drum and base fans today}-

-(i am putting all of my positive emotional energy into klonoa right now while i still can, time is running ouI LOVE DELAY ECHOES THAT ARE TIMED WEIRD and it's all "gamebop"'s fault for getting me into puchi carat/yasuhisa watanabe in 2008 even though he had no clue how much i would get into it compared to his imagination. the sound design on this song is basically perfect. one of the most inspirational songs to me in that regard, especially everything crystally in timbre. those constant 16ths that come in at 1:00 are AHHHHHHHHHH. basically every sound i think is cool, one thing that's extra cool to me, just from the perspective of "old synths from the 90s nerd" is how many of the synths here being used are actually ones more typically associated with lower production values, like the roland sc stuff; but this uses it so masterfully, especially in the drums, you would never be able to tell these are basically the same sounds as "msgs midi just like 'evenk' in this contest" (i have just offended every sc-55 owner). I think imura always impresses me the most on that front. no matter what synths she is using, she knows how to make them sound beautiful like a shiny fortress made out oI LOVE KLONOAf amethyst except it is blue and iridescent roland jd-800 looks like a spaceship it is probably the coolest looking synthesizer out there i love the 90s)-

-[a different flavor of the 90s entirely. much more aggressive and breakbeat heavy and DARK. this actually gives me vibes of NeoTokyo which maybe shouldn't be too surprising. because i associate neotokyo with deus ex, and...hahaha...hahah...what could unreal tournament POSSIBLY Have to do with deus ex HMMMMM. this gets my CYBERPUNK energy engaged for that reason. I LOVE The looping echoy synth that plays every 5 seconds from the start. if this song were just the first 5 seconds over and over and nothing else in the song i would probably like it equally as much, that is how important that bit is to me here. sets the tone soo hard i immediately perceive sad neon lights attached to dystopian buildings in the bad future. i like that vibe, a lot]-

-{i will always love klonoa, even when klonoa transforms into the dark symbol of self-loathing, the morbid symbol of questioning my own worth; klonoa will always be there to remind me how important every emotion is, and how important it is to never pretend a given emotion is not there. i like guntz because he has guns and that is edgy just like shadow the hedgehog. i like popka because he is an audacious rascal with very unconventional eyes. i like king of sorrow because he is teal and sad and his theme song has cool backwards sounds in it. but most of all, i like "eric persing's overwhelming influence"}-
