Except it isn't anything close to robbing because when you get robbed the person who takes the shit doesn't give it back, and it's not being taken in relation to a legal investigation. Completely different motive and completely different outcome.

You literally quoted something that disproves your nonsense claim. Even if you argue the "without legal right" -- which is a stretch given that police are more readily able to search somebody's vehicle or person without warrant than they are to search somebody's home which has a lot more protections -- things taken as evidence get returned, excluding illegal or stolen objects.
