and you can see all the small doubts sprouting up in Kate from the beginning as soon as she sees Geoff's reaction to the news. i was immediately thinking about missed opportunities, regrets, feelings of inadequacy and the fear that you were simply settled for. and being replaced by a fucking BODY and a ghost and you can't do anything to stop it.
the morning after the "confrontation" scene where Geoff is trying to make up for it, it just stands out more how forced everything seems and the party is just a big reminder of that, as one giant spectacle to show everyone.
once the party started, i was just waiting for things to go terribly wrong like he says the wrong name during the speech (it wasn't until then that i noticed the similarity in names lol).
