Finished this last night, I enjoyed it quite a bit but it's less impressive and less ambitious than The Messenger. If you don't like Metroidvania stuff maybe it's better I guess. Still I had fun though it was pretty difficult for me, I have no experience with the classic games in this genre so can't compare it to Ninja Gaiden etc. The bosses were great.

Finally finished it. Last few areas have too much off the screen nonsense it was kind of a slog. I enjoyed the game overall but I still feel like the first half was vastly superior.

Ha, I actually enjoyed the last few levels much more than the start. Once you get all your powers I feel there's much more freedom and it's more fun to move around, there's more ways for you to progress from screen to screen. I agree that massive screen near the end with all the head bopping was tedious but aside from that the last couple chapters are much more fast paced, and the various gimmicky levels they throw at you in the back half all work well for me and don't wear out their welcome. I'm sure I missed a lot but I like how many secret little locations were tucked away too (The dancing robots, the hidden vents where your robopal moves around from, the Mario warp zone reference, good stuff!). The narrative took itself a little too seriously (especially compared to The Messenger) but it was fine, and the music was good which tbf seems to be a prerequisite for all indies these days.
