A more accurate assessment would be paying anywhere from $0.25 to $2 more on stuff. In reality when grocery shopping people will be paying probably close to $50 to $75 more for groceries than they were before. Your shortsightedness has been noted though.

A 10 percent increase in the minimum wage might raise general retail prices by about 0.4 percent. The price mechanism isn't the main channel through which businesses respond to labor cost increases
