Flour ends up in a ton of stuff, due to how incredibly useful its various physical properties are. Pieces of apple may have been dredged in flour before being dried to keep them from sticking together, for example, which would leave residual gluten (and for particularly sensitive people that actually have celiac disease, that's enough to be a problem). --- This is my signature.
