I think the only "fine" should be the price of the procedure, which is somewhat high and not something you'd want to incur when birth control methods cost a fraction. Don't really agree with it being covered by insurance or low income programs (aside from rape/health concern things)-- and if everyone had to pay that'd remove the whole "using it as birth control" strawman since there'd be no reason you'd want to as it dwarfs the cost. I do think low income people should be given a "freebie" though with an offer to get a program covered IUD after (with subsequent visits being charged if they don't) just to remove any ignorance concerns and let them evaluate the decision properly after that first reality check.

IUDs are super effective and at the very least covered by insurance (and should ideally be covered by low income stuff if it's not already). Yes some people have some side effects like severe menstrual bleeding but for those people you'd make an exception on abortions not being covered
