By April, probably not. For one thing, I'm not high-risk enough to qualify for it until a supply is a little more established (asthmatic, but pretty mildly so, and otherwise young and in good shape, plus able to work from home so my exposure risk is relatively low). For another, I'm inclined to wait a bit longer to ensure the vaccine is safe. June-July, maybe, but not April and certainly not sooner than that.

From how I understand it, you need to get first dose, and a second dose 4 weeks later. The reasoning is since some people get covid a second time, a quick booster will allow your body to get the idea to keep the anti bodies, instead of getting rid of them. Not sure if thats it, but thats how I understand it.

That's the gist of it. You get stronger, longer-lasting immunity with a booster shot than from a single dose. That's why Hep B's vaccine is delivered in three shots, HPV in two, and there are a bunch of newborn/toddler vaccines that get repeated several times over those first few years.
