The Patriot act kinda really hurt my opinion of Bush. If thats the one where they could tap your phone just on suspicion of you being a terrorist. I value my privacy very highly.

So many things GWB did weren't just reprehensible, but morally indefensible, and a lot of carried into Obama. Trump was more mean tweets than anything else and yet people rather stupidly believe it's somehow worse.

While the claim about it being "for-profit" is highly debatable (well, no, the claim is mostly silly), it's pretty hard to dispute that GWB had a very active role in bringing the US into the Iraqi war. And you can probably see a bit of a personal motive in it because his daddy spearheaded Operation Desert Storm in the 90s which, again, was largely based on lies (such an ambassador's daughter pretending to work at a hospital and making claims) and bad intel although, even back then, Saddam was an evil man who shouldn't have been in power. In some ways, it was like tolerating Hitler because Saddam actively engaged in genocide and used highly-lethal, banned chemical weapons on civilians (and that same chemical weapon had been employed by the German military in the past).
