Both candidates suck. If this is the best both parties can do...holy shit, this is the decline of western civilization.

If we're being honest, I'd rather see Trump win than Biden, i can't shake the feeling that Biden is a trojan horse to put Harris in despite her having 3% of all the fucks given when she ran on her own. If anything, that's the real undermining of democracy we're looking at. Don't think for a second the Republicans aren't going to go after Biden for the exact same thing the Dems spent 3 years trying to Impeach Trump over, and the votes are already there if it makes it to the Senate.

all that being said. how is it that we're living in [current year] and can't fucking handle something as simple as an election? dead people voting, dumpsters full of ballots...for fuck's sake, i have more computing power sitting within 6' of me in any direction as i type this than it took to bring down Axis, and land men on the moon. we have telescopes that can see the echoes of the big bang. we have two satellites that are in the interstellar medium. we're finding evidence of life on like 4 other bodies in the solar system. we've landed probes on asteroids.

we still, as a nation/race/species can't handle something as simple as voting.

i'm supposed to believe that the software that handles my banking would take a hacker a trillion years to defeat, and a month doesn't go by where i'm not hearing about some data breach, and we're still arguing about filling out ballots with a punch tool, a pen, a sharpie, or a fucking crayon.

how is something as simple as voting beyond our technological capability?

full stop.

do we need to go back to men with swords protecting a vase in the town square while people throw white or black stones into it? we have facial recognition software in Vegas that isn't fooled by prosthetics and face paint ffs.

how is it that in an era where i literally paid my taxes last year while sitting on the toilet and filed my Covid furlough on the toilet that voting and accurately counting those votes is just beyond the fucking ken of mortal men? even the drooling mooks RGIS hires can count all the shit in a Walmart in under a day.

I don't really care who wins at this point, its the foreign policy that is the biggest difference between John Jakeson or Jake Johnson...but how the fuck is simply counting votes, literally a political inventory completely been such a clusterfuck for at least the latest half of my lifetime?

Just in my line of sight currently, there's a Samsung Galaxy Tablet (basically my alarm clock). A OnePlus5 Phone, A Nintendo 3ds, An RG350 retro handheld, An HP laptop, a random Chromebook, a Chuwi Larkbox Micro PC, and a Kindle Paperwhite. there's half a dozen bits of dead or dying computer tech within feet of me in my closet. this isn't even counting the firestick on the TV in the living room, 2 or 3 other random tablets, 3 other laptops, and a PC tower all in my living room.

any single piece of this technology is exponentially more powerful than the technology that ended WW2. I'm sure if i dug in the steamer truck in the corner, i could dig out a half dozen old gaming consoles and obsolete cellphones.

and you're telling me that in 2020 we can't even handle what amounts to an A/B vote? yeah sure, there's Jo Jorgenson and Yeezy in the mix, but nobody is finding 5 and 6 digit votes for either of them in dumpsters and parking lots. How is this a fucking thing in [current year]? All partisanship and fuckery aside, how are our elections not as easy and secure as filing my taxes while dropping a deuce?

how is this level of doubt and uncertainty days after the fact even accepted, unquestioned, and allowed?

like holy shit America, get your shit together.

this is disgusting no matter who wins. the dead shouldn't be voting for anyone. people that moved should only be voting once. I fail to comprehend why any of these errors/glitched/things that cast doubt on election security are even a thing, or should be controversial.

what do we need to do at this point to make it so future elections aren't total clusterfucks in the age of technology? this isn't an electoral college topic. this is a logistics/inventory problem.

like mail in votes are flawed entirely because of chain of custody issues. why are we mailing pieces of paper at all? voting should be as easy if not easier than filing taxes at this point.

i just...cannot comprehend why voting has been such a clusterfuck for 20+ years at this point.
