Which is not breathing as though you're breathing through your bellybutton. It's breathing while recognizing the role that the adbominal cavity plays in diaphragm expansion. I've been a brass player for ~23 years and a singer for 13. I'm very familiar with the concept of engaging the diaphragm. If you were breathing through your bellybutton, no gas exchange would be occurring because you don't have lungs connected to your bellybutton. Breathing through an orifice that does not connect to lungs is not something you should try to emulate, for what I hope are very obvious reasons.
