Pleasing shareholders, mostly. If you say "we'll have a game out this Christmas that will make us a bunch of money" and then you don't have a game out by Christmas, they tend to invest elsewhere. Of course, that tends to lead to businessmen with little understanding of the development process making overly optimistic promises and demanding that their workforces work unreasonably long, hard hours to realize them. --- This is my signature.
