Some other FE games do have situations where you can't get every character in a single playthrough though. For example, Blazing Blade has a few points in the game where you get one of two characters based on certain conditions met before the chapter begins and you can't get the other in the same playthrough, while the DS remake of Shadow Dragon goes as far as to have extra characters you can only recruit if a certain number of your units have died before the chapter begins.
