Yes, the Sword > Axe > Lance > Sword weapon triangle is a fundamental feature of most Fire Emblem games, although the recently released Three Houses was the first FE game in over 20 years to not include it. FE was literally do or die with awakening. There's no if, and or buts about it - Nintendo stated had awakening not been a success, FE would be a dead series. It 100% saved the franchise. They went all out with Awakening as a last ditch effort, and it shows.
