That gap has gotten a lot smaller than it once was (I think it was 0.16 that massively optimized belts, which was a couple years ago), but there was a time when a belt-only base breaking 1k SPM was all but impossible for a single computer. Now, belt-based megabases are actually possible, but bots still have an edge, and many people still default to bots because it's so much easier to set them up and make them work with beaconed setups (belt-based beacon lines are VERY squishy). Endgame belts are mostly only used by people who like the challenge of building belt setups. --- This is my signature.
