I've been on a Read or Die kick lately. Already watched the OVA and read the manga; now I'm on the Read or Dream manga and then I'll start R.O.D the TV. The TV series is my favorite of the four; it's got all the action and slice-of-life of the OVA, plus triple the Paper Masters, double the bibliophiles, and a straight man for them to bounce off. I also heard talk of a new series; I'll have to look into that. Also started up on Phoenix Wright game 2 again. Zeus 09/11/20 11:35:12 PM #6:	Started to watch the Great Pretender because NF kept trying to shove it down my throat... and immediately annoyed that the dub is heavily subbed. I think it's deliberate for effect, although I notice the other language versions sound like they're in the proper language. idk, it's probably going to suck, but it'll be background noise. EDIT: Halfway through the episode there's a notice saying that everything will be translated going forward. tbh, if it was going to be less than 75% English the whole time, I probably would have called it quits because I didn't feel like investing that much attention to this show. Thankfully they also toned down the ridiculous accents at the same time. keyblader1985 posted... The other problem is that, as a stereotypical heist/con series, they throw a twist every minute so I keep expecting things to be a twist when they're not and then figure out other twists ahead of time. I'm still expecting that there'll be another twist related to Eda's father (or, I guess, a first twist? Because everything else is kinda flashback and alluded to in flashback) ...also I'm disappointed that at the start of the next storyline when Laurente approaches a team member about a new job that they don't say, "Laurente, you son of a bitch, I'm in." agesboy posted... need to get back into conan but that requires figuring out where i stopped augh That's the toughest part about an anime that literally goes on forever and has already been around decades I'm also pissed that NF just has a "collection" rather than seasons and, even then, it's the sub rather than the dub. This was apparently a meme some time ago that died off for a while and then resurged lately in a huge way. There are now hundreds of tuba boss themes scattered around youtube. I think I mentioned these the other days but they finally started chain appearing in my recommended and I've uncovered some odd lore about them. These are vocaloid style music videos posted with no title and no uploader name. While at first that seems like a neat gimmick, it means you cannot search for them. There is a small playlist of some of the songs to find if you search "no title anime music" but thats only a few. Anyway, I've noticed in the comments some lore about the origins. I'm pretty sure based on how people were cutting each other off that it's actually made up but I kind of support this so I think it's interesting. Supposedly, there was a musician that made a bunch of these types songs and published them normally under a real title and channel but he got extremely stressed out and even suicidal over the pressure of it and deleted everything and left youtube. His fans, respecting his wishes but not wanting to lose the music reuploaded it with no title and no account name so that the original author could fade from peoples memories just like he wanted. Any video you find with a confirmed source is just a copycat supposedly. I'm pretty sure this is pure fiction but I think it's some neat lore people in comments sections have made up. Depending on who you ask, the original creator either killed himself or just hasn't responded since deleting his channel. First, while the set-up is cool and all, it makes no sense because if Coleman the auctioneer wanted that painting all along he should have just kept it instead of relying on a convoluted scheme where he'd get his love interest to buy it from him for him. Seriously, wtf? Second, I didn't realize some of that shit was flashbacks until close to the end of the arc. I thought Cynthia was working another angle (because everybody on this show is constantly working an angle) Soup_or_Science posted... The chick was cool though She kinda grows on you. She's certainly somewhat endearing by the end of the second story. The first chapter or two was lousy, but it's become interesting enough that I want to keep going... and I think it's like 260 chapters long. (Although a lot of them feel pretty short -- which is why I think it's more likely a webtoon -- and yes, I know 260 isn't massive compared to a lot of other series, but it's still more time than I wanted to invest in a new series.) It's not a particularly good scanlation either.
