it's partially why i gravitated towards isekai over the past few years

I love people creatively using overwhelming innate power; where any story conflicts are not whether the main character has the power to accomplish a task but will they, given their morality, personality, and knowledge of the situation

overlord is that idea taken to the extreme (the limiting factor to ainz's success being overwhelming caution), but stuff like slime, death march, maou-sama retry etc trend towards that as well

Which kinda brings to mind Shield Hero. One of the things I liked about Shield Hero is that his "weapon" is portrayed as being useless (because it's a defensive item so, at the start, he can't even level well by himself), only for him to start creatively using it and quickly finding ways to become far stronger than the other heroes (who, because they were kinda strong from the start, never bothered to learn how to use their weapons well).... and then, of course, we learn that previous Shield Heroes had actually been very fucking powerful, a fact that wasn't recognized in the kingdom he was summoned to.

In general, there's been kind of a renaissance revolving around unconventional tropes where we've seen weaker monsters and weapons elevated to prominence.

I have not heard of Konosuba, I will look into that.

I mostly know of Konosuba from Isekai Quartet (which was a lot of fun), although prior to that I had known at least one of the characters from the merch she'd received (Nendoroids, prize figures, etc)
