I got my PS4 about a year and a half after launch, but that was mostly so I could play games with my nephew (who already had a PS4).

I waited six years post-launch before getting my 360.

I could easily see myself waiting years to get a PS5, especially as long as the few games on the horizon (one of which, ironically, is Horizon) I'm actually interested in are still current gen. Don't really need a PS5 to play Cyberpunk 2077 when I can just as easily play it on my PS4.

I won't really see a need to buy a PS5 (or a next-gen Xbox) until there are already multiple games released (and on sale for at least a few months, because I don't buy games on release day either in the age of mandatory day 1 patches followed by weeks of even more patches to make a game borderline playable). That could take years.

At the current rate of game releases I actually give a shit about, it could take until 2027.
