The other benefit to PC is just the fact that -- in theory -- I don't have to buy a new thing every few years to play current games. (Although, from a practical standpoint, I'm sure a lot of newer games might not run exceptionally well on my laptops where I'd generally be guaranteed that they would on a console.)

PCs don't need to be upgraded nearly as often anymore. This laptop plays everything just fine (And will play em better than a ps5) and it's 5 years old (I7 with 16 gig of ram and 4G graphics card). I got it on sale at best buy for $900 (was normally like $1300 back then).

You can build your own desktop (Which I may do sometime soon) for much less though, probably not much more than a PS5 with the disk drive.

As far as loosing content, there are a bunch of reasons it doesn't even matter anymore. First you can play games offline with steam at this point, also there are multiple ways to get them (epic for instance has given out a freakton of em for free), and GoG, Greenman gamining etc, offer extreme discounts on games that you have on your comp (so doesn't matter if they go away).

Mostly though it's the fact that the discounts on PC games are so much larger and more frequent, and heck often even at launch with things like Greenman gaming (Sometimes a new game is like 20% off base, and then I have an additional 25% off coupon, allowing for almost half price on a brand new game).

Xbox controllers or ps4 controllers etc work fine on PC so there is no controller problem like in the old days anymore, and you have a freakton of space (Even SD space) to store games on. Mods are WAY more common as well on pc (you don't have to make your own other people do), and things like beat saber are waaaay better (mods for it, pretty much any song etc).

Also you don't have to pay extra for internet access (though you still need base internet, no xbox live/ps + etc costs).

Heck at this point an external HD is so cheap you could just get a few of em and load every game you ever possible wanted to play on them so you don't need to worry about downloading em in the future etc. Would even mean you could play em on other computers as well, or play the same game with the same saves on a laptop or your desktop at will.
