It's a big bold move, but we won't see the results until 2023 or 2024, well into this upcoming console generation. It's an arms race, and I'm proud of Microsoft for loading up their guns and firing a shot.

I'm not an xbox fan, but PC is my prefered gaming source. If microsoft releases everything decent for pc that it releases on Xbox (Whatever the new one is), I think the xbox will die. I would not even buy a new xbox (didn't get the last one) for a new fallout game at this point, and I'm pretty sure fallout/ES games will come to PC as well (Even if delayed).

PS5 has the advantage of well, being basically free for me, or I would probably not get one for years. I can sell my pro + a bunch of games (20 something of them including a bunch worth 20+) and basically flat out cover the cost of a digital PS5 (which means I can play demon souls at launch.

Thing is of those games, I have not played almost all of them, and that includes my physical copy of bloodborne (Which I have not finished nor played the DLC which I own yet). I may end up waiting anyway so I have more time to actually try and play them, instead of trading in almost 20 games (spiderman/ratchet and clank/odyssey/dragon quest builders/persona 5 etc) that I have not played yet.

But yeah, not really worried by microsoft buying out Beth cause.....it may even just mean I can try the games for $10 on gamepass in the future instead of buying crap on launch (fallout 76...although I heard it's better now, I need to try it out again sometime soon).
