If you're suggesting you just own books to show off, that's kinda stupid. Most people pick up books to read them. I own probably somewhere between 4-10k books -- including some manga volumes and TPBs -- but everything I've either read or intend to read (as opposed to using as a decoration). You can't read a collectible. You can only look at them -- or, in the case of something with articulation -- pose them as well. Those are decorations. A display of books is basically enjoying them for their cover.
