Or you'll die, so that's a minor draw back of choosing the red ring. Solution: don't take the damned ring off. Though it's possible to lose the ring and survive. It's been established that you can apparently use a blue ring to somehow regenerate the heart you lose when the red ring takes over, and Guy Gardner once had himself slowly healed by Mogo by some means that was never entirely explained.
