From the perspective of a parent of 3 kids... if we go to the movies, it's like 8 bucks (or more) per ticket. We sneak in snacks and drinks but we love good movie theater popcorn, which isn't cheap. I love the movies so I don't mind the cost. I think we estimate $60 to see a movie.

Trolls World Tour came out for rental right away, $20. We had a movie night, and then the kids watched it a bunch of times, got into the songs, etc. It was a great value. Of course, we could have rented a different kids movie that they hadn't seen for way cheaper. But there's an obvious and necessary premium for new movies.
