There is absolutely zero intent for you to be 100% protected from viral load. The masks that are to accomplish that are n95 masks. The public is NOT recommended to wear those. The public is recommended to donate them to hospitals if they have them. The masks the public are recommended to wear are simply to reduce your spread of virus in your droplets that you naturally have via talking, breathing, sneezing, and coughing. This only works definitively to protect you if everyone is wearing their masks and following proper usage of them. However, the mask you wear is to reduce how far your droplets spread from you. Not to protect you.
