His wife was like six months pregnant with his daughter at the time, and she's in high school now. In ironic restrospect, it was probably right around the time I started posting pretty regularly on PotD. He was on his motorcycle at an intersection, and he wasn't even actually moving at the time. But a bitch who was on her phone just plowed into him. He was in the hospital for a while, but eventually his leg went septic, and they had to put him in an induced coma, and then he died. At the time I was almost more worried about my niece, because I was afraid that all the stress on my sister-in-law might cause problems with her pregnancy. But me and my parents basically tried to do whatever we could to help her out, and to try and take care of my nephew (who was about 5 at the time). Things have generally worked out for them since then, but it was definitely tough for everyone at the time. Though it didn't help that I was basically in a pretty major car accident like a week after he died (in which I totaled my truck), because as if my mother wasn't already halfway to having a complete nervous breakdown, that was just more weight on her shoulders.
