Portal 2 was definitely pushed pretty hard by Valve. There was a sizable media blitz and they released an indie bundle on Steam, the potato pack, in a period when bundles were basically unheard of. At the time, I was an anti-Steam curmudgeon and unhappy with the fact that I had to use Steam at all, so those games are basically the first things in my collection. One of them, Defense Grid, turned out to be pretty good, too.
