Mario Party's problem with later games is that they got caught up in the idea that if the game didn't have more, or some type of gimmick, it would be considered a ripoff.

I mean, s***, look at that microphone they tried to push for MP6. Disgusting.

The games became hectic as crap and weren't fun to play.

Stripping Mario Party of the elements that made it Mario Party isn't the way to go, though. This game doesn't look anything like what I was expecting.

To be fair, Mario Party WAS getting incredibly stale with all the renditions that were pretty much the exact same thing each release.

But really, the problem was that they were just releasing too god damn many Mario Parties. I like my Mario Party the classic gimmick-free way, but there became a point where I just didn't feel the need to keep buying the same damn game. Just give me one Mario Party per generation for the hardware capability updates and leave it at that.
