If we're learning anything from self-quarantine, there are plenty of ways to have food and other goods delivered directly to your house, and it's possible to work from home, so in theory you could spend the next 20+ years never once leaving your house and survive just fine. Also, the converse there is that, in some states in the US, if you don't own a car, you won't be acquiring food. Because you won't have any means of getting to a store, nor money to spend there even if you could because you won't be able to hold down a job.
