Im just glad they patched it up with an explanation because the tone of the entire tournament was weird and awkward up until that because we had this happy, naive child who was actually a fucking genocidal maniac for no reason besides his own amusement up until that point. And as a viewer it was hard to root for any side because we knew trillions of innocent creatures were being obliterated because their team lost in a martial arts contest.

So im just glad they wrote in a way for it to all be justified, as tacked on as it was.

Thats fair. Though I personally would have preferred that it wasnt expected from Zeno and he genuinely just wanted to see people fight.

It would have made 17s wish be a figurative fuck you to the whole thing. Since Zeno would have to honor it.

Though I dont think the ToP wanted you to root for anyone else but team Goku. The wolf guys were the most sympathetic but they were out first. I feel like more could have been done to flesh out characters without Team Goku eliminating everyone. Maybe get a glimpse of Jirens backstory vs Hit. That way we as the audience actually feel bad that our heroes are causing other universes to be erased and maybe give Goku some awareness.

I just think Zeno and the high angel guy should have been the antagonists just by virtue of them forcing everyone to fight for their lives. Jiren would be the physical obstacle, sure, but 17s choice should not have validated Zeno imo. Antagonists being defeated by means besides fighting doesnt fit DB I guess.
