He worked as a contractor primarily and through temp agencies, but worked constantly. He had actually just moved to the bay area from NY about 2 months ago and was getting situated, but was working full time.

Supposedly contractors and temp workers etc, can file for unemployment now according to the extensions on it, but.....he isn't going to be in that state. I think, from what I have seen, you can apply for unemployment even if you leave the state you were working in though, so I think he needs to do that.

Perhaps he will be able to work up there as well, but it's a small town out in the middle of nowhere, so probably not the same kinda jobs he was doing before.

Since he won't have rent etc, he should be ok, but like I said, if this is a long term thing he should apply now.
