How does he apply for unemployment benefits at this point, would he apply in Ca (I guess through a website), even though he's now in WA? He doesn't need to pay rent, but doesn't have a ton of savings and could use money for food etc. The $1200 will probably cover that, but if this goes on for awhile, he should probably file for unemployment. I have no clue about unemployment since I never filed for it myself, and I think rules are different right now anyway.
