For fanfiction, there's actually some fanmade playable episodes of reasonable prominence besides the Steamed Hams one.

Unfortunately most of them were made quite some time ago, before Umineko was officially released outside Japan, and require the original (Japanese) release of Episode 8 to work - the Steam version will not do. This has been pretty disastrous for their accessibility.

Witches & Woodlands 3.5 is pretty well regarded and can be seen on youtube. It's about the cousins, Beatrice, Dlanor, and Erika playing Dungeons & Dragons and is pretty fun. There's one interactive minigame but you don't miss much by not playing it yourself. I've heard generally less good things about When the Seacats Cry, which is four parts long and the 3rd part is heavily interactive. Haven't watched it or had much success finding a way to play it.

Redaction of the Golden Witch is on youtube but the author is currently working on revising it. Haven't seen this one yet either.
