Majora's Mask is so good. Best Zelda until BOTW came out and made the discussion much more difficult.

The 3 day system making it so that ach NPC has their own strict schedule including interactions with other NPCs at certain times and the different permutations that can arise as a result of Link's actions (Anju/Kafei is probably the biggest example, fitting since it's the biggest, depending on what you do a whole range of things can happen. And if you check in at various points that aren't strictly "relevant" you can catch very cool moments like Anju's family trying to convince her to leave with them to the Ranch at night by listening in on the conversation throguh the wall.) and there's all kinds of moments like that. To say nothing of the all-but-confirmed behind the scenes stuff like the Deku butler guy visiting the dead Deku in the credits all but saying out loud that was his son.

And the atmosphere is top notch and both kind of surreal and creepy with the impending doom literally hanging in the air and growing ever closer as time advances.
