Revolvers are practically indestructible compared to automatics

They're not really unreliable though. A revolver may well work better after being dragged through a beach for 16 hours, but otherwise you can expect a modern pistol designed for military use to be more than capable enough for any normal citizen.

I'd say the option of more than 5 rounds and quality recoil suppression far exceeds theoretical reliability potential.

Accuracy is for crap, but it's made for short range so that doesn't matter.

Shotguns may be less accurate than rifles but they're still zeroed for 50 yards like a pistol.
