The "point" is to give the bully an opportunity to come clean, to repent. What, the bully was approached in a less than gentle way? Well boo-fucking-hoo.

Being, present time, yessir. The moment the bully comes out he stands not just a bully (yes, still, as far as I know there's no statute of limitations on bullying, lel) but more importantly and relevant a hypocrite. Again, it's not his bullying that's the problem, it's his hypocrisy.

Again. If the bully had included an apology, heck just a confession and acknowledgment of his bullying (to no one in particular) when he came out, that would have been completely different.
