With a bunch of stuff set to private, it might make them think youre hiding something.

Or it might look like you dont have a life of friends because of the lack of pictures because people think they can use social media to fully understand a person.

What?

Only in that it saves them the effort of googling for themselves. In terms of the final result (that is, them seeing what's on the profile), they're identical.

No, it's far more than that. If you give somebody something, it's because you expect them to look at it. If you expect somebody to look at something, you should have enough common sense to clean up whatever might be considered objectionable. If somebody either lacks that common sense or has an exceedingly different standard, an employer very rightfully might not want them working for the company. And a LOT of employers will make their decisions based on that. In this particular case, they used a photo as an example of what they don't like to see.

If she learned from this instead of kvetched about it, she might have been better off next time. Most people never get much in the way of insights why a company actually rejected them.

This response does nothing to refute my assertion that this is not the sort of conduct that will negatively impact employers. The whole point of this discussion is that their aversion to such conduct is stupid and an overreaching invasion of employees'/applicants' personal lives, not to try and suggest that the company didn't do what they very obviously did.

Again, she's going for a job that likely includes social media work. Her decision-making regarding social is ABSOLUTELY relevant to the job.

If rewording the question will help you understand it better, sure (though we should perhaps stick with "unprofessional," since "questionable" is substantially more vague and not relevant to the matter at hand here). Do you plan on answering it, now that you understand it?

How can I reword it so you finally understand why that swimsuit is questionable, though? If she chose to post photos of herself on a nude beach, would you even find *that* unacceptable? Do you have a bar at all?
