That last part is critical. If there's no DNA evidence submitted, the death penalty should, by law, not be allowed to be considered. And instead of putting these sickos in prisons to wait 10+ years to die, just go shoot their brains out behind the courthouse. Who cares about ethics when what the bad guy did wasn't ethical? It's about saving taxpayer money.

DNA evidence is itself vastly more unreliable than people think it is, and the kind of "DNA evidence" that people use in court ranges from "has genuine scientific merit, but still carries a margin of error larger than people are willing to admit" to "literally just quackery"
