A year from now a revolutionary new company will make an announcement. That they have created a way to make artificial spouses! Several ways in fact. The two most prominent are robots designed to look just like people as well as specially grown clones genetically programmed to see you as the perfect spouse. Other methods exist such as a spouse that is purely digital in nature and so-forth. They can be customized in terms of personality to suit you and in terms of physical appearence/capabilities within the limits of the method you choose. You won a free voucher for one of these artificial spouses when opening a candy bar up and are currently unmarried (if you are already married). Would you take a robot/clone/AI/whatever else as your husband/wife/whatever?

If it's already your property, why would you need to marry it? >_>

And something like that would supplement rather than replace a spouse; granted, if it's a functional but artificially grown human, there's at least some incentive towards a normal relationship although you then have a slew of murky ethical issues because it becomes slavery with extra steps.
