I'm guessing people with those issues tend to stay home and be online more than going out.

This.

People online these days like to share every aspect of their lives for some reason.

Plus this.

Also throw in the fact that, for the first time in modern culture, we've sort of removed the stigma of being "ill" (whether physical or mental), so people are less likely to try and hide their problems. When having carpal tunnel syndrome gets condemned as being a curse from god because you masturbate too much, or all mental illness gets dismissed as being possessed by demons, or losing a limb makes you an outcast, people are going to be far less willing to admit to something being wrong with them. But when we're constantly told that having injuries or illnesses doesn't make you a bad person, and we even tend to overcompensate to some degree by cutting those people even more slack (ie, the reason why so many Internet assholes self-diagnosed themselves as having "Assburgers" to justify being a dick or being "on the spectrum" to justify shitty social skills), people are far more likely to come forward with pretty much anything.
