You kind of deliberately ignored one of the most important parts of the post you quoted, which kind of completely shits on your entire indignation and rebuttal:

Given that I was specifically responding to the fact that you were starting your usual tirade -- not that our opinions differ -- that's hardly relevant.

I'm not going around being a judgmental asshole shitting on anyone who dares use a phone, or saying that anyone who's ever bought a DS or a PSP or whatever is a vapid waste of space. I'm saying that those things literally don't have value to ME.

Which I can say without hesitation is a statement that is 100% factually, objectively true, no matter how badly it might trigger you.

If it's an opinion, it can't be objective! Ha-ha! You are undone, sir!

I find gaming to be far more disrupted by outside distractions than reading. Especially if it's a wait that's going to be periodically interrupted. It's also a lot easier for me to pause a book in the middle of a paragraph/chapter/etc than it is to pause in the middle of a game if I happen to be in a really tense part, let alone stop playing entirely because I've now finished my alloted period of time wasting and won't be able to get back to finish for hours (if not longer).

Could be a genre thing. That aside, a lot of handheld games are specifically designed to be pick-up-and-play and later handhelds expanded on that by effectively having a sleep mode.

The time when I just sit down and play a quick game of Nibbles (Snake) or Tetris are long since over. Some of the shortest games I play these days are 80+ hours long - and while they have save functions, and I can't even remotely finish them in a single sitting, they're also not games that are even remotely worth playing in 10-15 minute increments. Generally speaking, I won't even consider sitting down to play a game unless I know I've got at least a couple hours to kill.

Yeah, I just straight up don't have the time to commit to uninterrupted long sittings and I hesitate when I hear 80+ hour game because that usually means I'll invest three to five times as many hours. And if it's a game where I put in more than 80 hours, it's usually because it can be enjoyed in shorter intervals. Lately I can't even get a weekend for Pokemon Go with all of the shit I get dragged into.

This seems like a lot of effort to go through for 1000 bucks.

Not really. Unless your job depends on a smart phone itss a minor inconvenience at most.

It can be a major inconvenience at times.
