That said, I think mandating a minimum wage at a federal level is stupid because it doesn't take into account the extreme variation in cost of living. Minimum wage should be legislated based on median rent and food costs within some reasonable radius of the workplace (e.g. a half-hour drive, provided the wage also takes the costs of driving into account) in question, which means that the minimum wage for a McD's in the Bay Area is going to be substantially higher than the minimum wage for a McD's in a small town. --- This is my signature.
