I would be bouncing loads of checks while living the high life, but to prevent panic, crime and looting i think leaders would say they can stop it militarily right up to the point of impact, no one would think it would hit until after it does Odds are they wouldn't say shit, I think if they knew a world ending event was coming they wouldn't say a damn thing they may try to stop it but telling everyone just creates a mass panic and makes the streets chaotic.
