Getting rid of an existing corrupt system doesn't really mean you can't replace it with a more effective system. And if someone is arguing that corporate interests have seriously compromised the effectiveness of a governmental oversight body, odds are they AREN'T suggesting that the solution is a completely laissez-faire free-for-all without any regulation or limitations. If anything, what he's essentially saying is that the EPA is currently so corrupt and powerless, it's functionally as if it doesn't exist anyway. So it's continued existence is a negative because it prevents a more effective solution from coming into being. Mead posted...
