It literally already works in human trials. It just needs to finish going through all the hoops for a full market release.

Both of those articles explicitly state it was not done in human trials, but in a lab with samples. It does not mean that it will work in an actual human trial, and even if it does, it does not mean that there aren't other side effects that would bar it from being approved.
