I'm saying, arguing against UHC because it subsidizes peoples' health care is not an argument when we already subsidize peoples health care. At that point it is a question of efficacy and efficiency. I'm actually not clear what would happen if we covered every body. Costs go up on the front end by a lot, but costs per person go down a lot once you eliminate the costs associated with uncompensated care, unfunded mandates, and debt collection on the part of providers

my totally honest answer is that I suspect we would spend more or less the same amount, but more of it would be on the federal budget and less would be on state and local governments
