Also, Poe sits around doing nothing the whole movie. He did that in the last movie too. Waste of time and an interesting character.

The problem with Poe is that he was supposed to die in the first 10 minutes of the last movie. I feel like he's always going to feel a bit aimless, because he was never supposed to be in the movies, and is only really there because the test audiences really liked him, and everyone likes shipping him with Finn.

There's so much more. Leia becoming Supergirl, The Force doing some crazy s***.

To be fair, they were hinting at Leia starting to feel the Force in RotJ, and it's been decades since then. I find it plausible that she's developed that at least a bit since then, or that she can sort of tap into it in desperate circumstances.

As for the Force doing crazy shit, the prequels and the EU opened that door a long time ago, and I don't think we're ever closing it again.

Which is a shame, since I think it's more interesting if the Force is more subtle and minor, more akin to what we saw in the original trilogy, but that's a ship that sailed decades ago.

No great lightsaber duels.

I'm completely fine with that.

As is, an argument can be made that the films that focused most on lightsaber battles also wound up being the ones that were a huge fecal mess.

I'll settle for psychology over over-choreographed laser sword fights every single time. Even if the psychology is over-simplified.

To paraphrase the Redlettermedia reviews, every lightsaber fight in the original trilogy had weight because of what it represented. All of the lightsaber fights in the prequels felt empty and pointless because they meant absolutely nothing (and the one fight that did matter wound up sucking as well because it lasted four hours).
