Any thoughts on why Solo is under performing at the box office?

Because it's a movie literally no one wanted or was enthusiastic about, showing mere weeks after the biggest movie of the summer.

Speaking of which, I finally saw Infinity War. Now, that added to Black Panther means I'm caught up with Marvel movies, and I'm actually finally getting around to watching The Last Jedi (literally as we speak - I'm like 40 minutes into it right now).

I'm tempted to go back into the last Geek topic and C&P all the posts talking about those movies that I deliberately ignored to avoid spoilers back when they came out and reply to them now, but I suspect the old topic will have purged before I get around to it, and I'm not entirely sure it's worth bothering (since it would just be rehashing after the fact for the rest of you).

Have any of you seen Solo? Still plan to see Solo? Do you even have any interest in Solo, and if you do or do not why?

When they originally announced they were going to do Rogue One, Solo, and a presumed Obi-Wan movie, Rogue One was pretty much the only concept I even remotely gave a shit about. Now that they've announced a Boba Fett movie, I'm completely apathetic about that one as well (mostly because I never even remotely cared about him as a character the way so many other people did - gee whiz, he's a fuck up who does one clever thing, says three generic lines, has Vader do him a favor, and then gets eaten by a sand vagina. Kewlest guy evar!).

I'm also going to proceed to not give a shit if they ever do the rumored Yoda movie they've sort of implied may be a thing eventually.

I think there ARE cool ideas in the Star Wars universe that they can explore in side-stories that would make for worthwhile movies, but I also suspect they'll never have the courage to do them. I also have the fear that even if they do, they'll make the same mistakes the EU did and they'll be terrible anyway.

But hey, the last few years have basically had me cutting ties with tons of franchises (or creators of franchises) I used to absolutely love, but which are either completely dead to me now or outright repugnant in their mere existence. So throwing Star Wars onto that particular bonfire wouldn't hurt my feelings all that much.

I never really fell in love with Star Wars like everyone else as a kid

It's because you're a child of the Dark Age.
