She's also a student which means, in theory, she COULD have chosen to apply for a student visa (which again would likely involve her leaving the country until it was approved) which from there she might have applied for permanent status. Working around is different from having an employer sponsor you for citizenship. They use the phrase "highly educated" about every other sentence to make sure you know it's not for everyone. But yeah, I guess she could have moved to El Salvador for a few years and wrap herself up in the legal work when she was 14... gosh you play hardball. Guess you missed my edit, but that wouldn't be an issue if her mother -- the same mother who inconvenienced her by illegally moving to the US in the first place -- had fucking done the paperwork. If you're a kid and you're getting evicted because your parents forgot to pay the bills, it's not the fucking bank's fault.
