So it's just your personal issues that are the problem then. Gotcha.

They're a case-in-point.

Yeah, which is where the "jealousy" part comes in.

Jealous of what exactly?

Because, I mean, a lot of the NJ abuse I hear in real life comes from New Yorkers (especially the sorts of people who are dismissive of the "bridge and tunnel" crowd) - but you couldn't pay me enough to live in NYC. For every plus there's always at least a few minuses (like having cockroaches, dog-sized rats, and constantly smelling like urine).

There's a lot of NY besides NYC. It's a pretty big state, something I personally forget at times since I've grown accustomed to smaller states.

Otherwise, I don't like larger cities in general. Everything seems to be paid parking, there are too many damn lanes of traffic on every street, homeless people all over, etc. Suffered through a trip to White Plains a month or so ago where, right at the end when I was stopping in a bathroom before driving back, I noticed that the guy in a nearby stall was hypnoxxing.

I'd probably rate CT as "tolerable", though its certainly got its own issues. Most of the states north are either a bit too pretentious (hello, Mass!) or just a bit too hick-y for my tastes (hello New Hampshire!).

Well, the north and eastern parts of CT are thoroughly hick. Going north, you start hitting backwoods around Torrington (although even New Milford starts to look eerily white). Going east, past Hartford starts to looks hickish unless you're hugging the shore

But as for not wanting to live in New England, I'd probably flip it the other way around and say that there aren't all that many places outside of the Northeast that I'd be able to stomach on a long-term basis. Once you get into Delaware or Maryland or go much beyond Ohio, it seems like there's way too much open space and any number of terrible things worth avoiding.

Where else have you resided, though?

And we are super close to New Orleans, which means we have access to one of the best food scenes in America. We also have fresh seafood from the gulf, which too is nice.

My mouth is watering already.

However, she loves the weather here. She doesn't want to go too far north because of snow. Like the snow is going to personally attack and freeze her to death..

Before you scoff about the snow, I want you to remember winter is coming. You boys of summer down south wouldn't survive a proper New England winter.

But seriously, snow sucks and sometimes you have to deal with it for months at a time. Plenty of times you'll find yourself cleaning up from one storm to ready yourself for the next. Those days you'll ask yourself why you didn't get a place closer to the road.
