In that case, the husband is far more likely to get alimony and that's bearing in mind that the division of assets tries to split things up nearly equally (in the absence of a pre-nup)

There are plenty of states where this isn't the case at all, though.

How any given settlement works depends a lot on the state in question, who the presiding judge winds up being, and how good your lawyer is. Even splits or assessments based on actual income aren't necessarily the status quo everywhere.

And while things are probably better now than they've been in the past, a lot of divorce courts are definitely still a bit skewed in favor of the female over the male, especially in cases where child custody comes into play.
